China Railway Group Limited (“China Railway”) is the largest integrated construction group in China and Asia. As the backbone enterprise in China’s infrastructure construction, China Railway has always been playing a significant role of “construction pioneer”, dedicating itself to the causes of serving the nation and vitalizing the commerce. The company has built, extended and renovated a total length of more than 50,000 kilometer long railways, accounting for over two thirds of the total operational mileage of China’s existing railway system, and China Railway has participated in the construction of over 22,600 kilometer of electrified railways, accounting for 95% of the national total operational mileage. China Railway has also constructed over 7,400 kilometers of roads, including more than 3,400 kilometers of expressways. The company has been involved in the construction of thousands of key projects covering roads, airports, docks, hydroelectricity, metros, high-rise buildings and municipal works, which contribute a lot to China’s infrastructure and economic development. China Railway has received over 200 national-level awards including China Luban Prizes for Achievements in Construction Projects, National Quality Project Awards, Zhan Tianyou Grand Prize for China Civil Engineering Awards, National Sci-Tech Progress and Invention Awards and Surveys and Designs Awards for National Projects of Excellence. The staff of China Railway has established a series of shining historic monuments on the earth of China with their noble sentiment, distinct ingenuity, and industrious hands.

In December, 2007, China Railway set a precedent of overall reorganization and dual listing by adopting a listing method of “First A and Then H”. On 3 and 7 December, 2007, the company successfully floated its A-shares and H-shares on Shanghai Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange respectively, which marks a solid stride of China Railway in implementing its development strategy of “promoting two major transformations, achieving three major objectives and establishing an enterprise with four core businesses”. Seizing such a favorable opportunity, China Railway will further open to pilot and innovate, and institute the conception of scientific and harmonious development. China Railway will enhance the developmental modes, clarify the development priorities, and conquer the hurdles in its development. We will strive to achieve the transformations in the following directions: standardize corporate governance structure; orientate towards a public company; adjust the operation mode towards upstream construction industry; enhance the product structure towards high value-added area; further internationalize operation; develop into  detail and information-based mode in management; focus on independent innovation and  technological development; establish a corporate culture of increasing the core value of the enterprise; and create harmonious enterprise. We will make efforts to promote the transformation from a traditional state-owned enterprise to a modern one and from a Chinese large enterprise to a large group corporation with international competitiveness. We endeavor to build the company into an excellent, strong and great enterprise group with modernized management, internationalized presence, active innovation and harmonious development.
