The Aqueduct Bridge of the Main Canal of the Pihe River Diversion from the Yangtze River to the Huaihe River Won the Arthur Haydon Prize
Source: Date:2023年05月08日

The International Bridge Conference (IBC) recently announced the list of award-winning projects in 2023. The Pihe Main Canal Aqueduct Bridge, which the China TIESIJU Civil Engineering Group constructed, won the Arthur Haydon Award of the International Bridge Conference, the first time the project has won the International Bridge Congress Award after winning the China Steel Structure Gold Award. It became China's only award-winning project at the International Bridge Conference in 2023.

The aqueduct bridge of the central canal of the water diversion from the Yangtze River to the Huaihe River is located in Feixi County, Hefei City, Anhui Province, on the north side of the Jianghuai watershed. As an essential water supply channel for Hefei and Lu'an, it is more than 30 meters higher than the water diversion channel from the Yangtze River to the Huaihe River. The central canal of the Pihe River passes through the water diversion canal from the Yangtze River to the Huaihe River in the air. The canal water flows through the traditional aqueduct, just like the viaduct, "there is a bridge on the bridge", forming a "river on the river" and a "water bridge" for boats. It has become a landmark building of the whole.

The International Bridge Conference is an international bridge academic conference with a high reputation in the world bridge industry. It has special awards such as the George Richardson Award, the Arthur Haydon Award, and the Eugene Figo Award, which is used to commend outstanding bridge projects recently completed worldwide and are known as the "Nobel Prize" in the bridge industry.
