On March 28, the No. 2 integrated warehouse for the lower ore belt of the Čukaru-Peki copper-gold mine, constructed by the Serbia project team of China Railway No.9 Group Dalian Branch, was successfully handed over.
As Serbia’s first green mine invested in and operated by a Chinese company, the Čukaru-Peki copper-gold mine is a major “Belt and Road” Initiative collaboration between China and Serbia. The No. 2 warehouse covers a floor area of 5,844.25 square meters and features a steel structure (independent foundation plus steel frame). Its exterior walls are made of single-layer profiled steel sheets, while the interior walls are constructed with rock wool sandwich panels. The warehouse includes both storage and office areas.
Some of the main construction materials were sourced from China and transported using a combination of road, rail, and maritime logistics. To ensure on-time delivery amid the challenges of long-distance transport and global uncertainties, the project team worked closely with professional logistics providers. They evaluated various transportation methods to determine the most cost-effective and timely solutions. Additionally, a real-time logistics tracking system was implemented to anticipate and address potential issues in advance.
