On July 10 local time, the Kamina–Luena section of the N1 Highway Maintenance Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, undertaken by China-Congo Infrastructure General Contracting and constructed by China Railway No.9 Group, was fully completed.
The Kamina–Luena section of the N1 Highway starts from Kamina, the capital of Haut-Lomami Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, passes through Giebula, Kabondo, Bukama, the Congo River, and other locations, and ends in Luena, with a total length of 162.35 kilometers. The construction area is remote from urban centers, with scattered villages, complicated geological conditions, unstable roadbeds, and severely damaged pavement that was almost impassable, making construction highly challenging.
With the completion of this road section, travel time for vehicles has been significantly reduced, accelerating the circulation of products such as cassava, bananas, pineapples, charcoal, and fish along the route, greatly improving the supply of daily necessities for local residents, and contributing to the rapid development of the local economy.
