Upgrading and Surface Sealing Project of the 100.2 km Kutubu Road in Southern Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea Commences

On January 7, the upgrading and surface sealing project of the 100.2-kilometer Kutubu Road in Southern Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea, undertaken by China Railway Construction Engineering Group under CREC, officially commenced.

The road has a history of more than 30 years, and with the steady improvement of Papua New Guinea’s economic conditions, it is in urgent need of reconstruction and upgrading. The project owner is the Government of Papua New Guinea, and the main construction works include site clearing, earthworks, subgrade construction, asphalt surface sealing, drainage works, road markings, bridge maintenance, and riverbank protection works.

Upon completion, the project will further improve the local transportation network and play an important role in transforming Papua New Guinea’s regional resource advantages into development momentum.
