On January 8, the main steel structure of the Arusha Integrated Sports Stadium EPC project in Tanzania, undertaken by China Railway Construction Engineering Group, a subsidiary of CREC, was successfully topped out.
Located in Arusha, a major tourist city in northern Tanzania, the stadium is one of the venues for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. With a total floor area of approximately 41,500 square meters, it can accommodate 30,000 spectators and has an overall height of 46.9 meters. The structure adopts a reinforced concrete frame and a single-layer space grid system, with a large-span single-layer space grid steel structure roof, using approximately 8,000 tons of steel in total.
The topping-out of the main steel structure marks the successful overcoming of the project’s most critical technical challenges, with construction now fully entering the roof and enclosure system installation phase. Upon completion, the stadium will significantly enhance Arusha’s capacity to host large-scale international sporting events and will play an important role in boosting local tourism, employment, and related industries.
