Recently, the main structural works of the Marava Water Supply Project in Kakamega, Kenya, undertaken by China Railway No.10 Engineering Group, a subsidiary of CREC, were fully completed. The project has officially entered the mechanical and electrical installation phase.
The Marava Water Supply Project is a key public welfare water infrastructure project for the local community. It will establish an integrated water supply system comprising an intake dam, a water treatment plant with a daily processing capacity of 1,200 cubic meters, a 24-kilometer water distribution network, water storage tanks, water vending towers, and public washing facilities, among other supporting infrastructure. The completed system will provide water services to approximately 100,000 local residents, significantly improving living conditions and providing strong support for the development of local agriculture and small-scale industries.
The dispersed settlements, complex terrain, and highly variable hydrological conditions in Kakamega significantly increased the challenges associated with the installation and coordination of the ultra-long-distance pipeline network. In response, the project team optimized construction plans based on local conditions, maintained strict control over construction techniques, project quality, and workplace safety, and scientifically scheduled project activities in accordance with local climatic conditions, ensuring the project advanced in line with high standards.
