Local time, Sino-Congolese Infrastructure, together with the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Chinese Medical Team in the DRC, visited the “Smile of Children” Orphanage in Kinshasa to carry out a charitable outreach activity. Through concrete actions, the delegation fulfilled the social responsibilities of Chinese enterprises operating overseas, conveyed China’s warmth and compassion across borders, and further strengthened the friendship between the peoples of China and the DRC.

During the event, the delegation donated a large quantity of daily necessities, educational supplies, and medical materials, including rice, flour, cooking oil, milk powder, clothing, school bags, stationery, and pediatric medicines, distributing them directly to the children. The Chinese Medical Team in the DRC also provided free medical consultations and health examinations, promoted basic hygiene and disease-prevention knowledge, and offered guidance on the care and treatment of common childhood illnesses, helping address the orphanage’s medical service needs.

In the presence of representatives from the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in the DRC, the delegation held in-depth discussions with the orphanage’s management and toured the classrooms, dormitories, and recreational facilities to gain a comprehensive understanding of the children’s living conditions, educational opportunities, and operational challenges faced by the institution. Lawrence, Director of the orphanage, expressed her sincere gratitude for China’s long-term and continuous support. She noted that while Chinese enterprises have been deeply involved in infrastructure development projects in the DRC, they have also consistently cared for vulnerable local communities. Continuous material assistance and regular medical support have significantly improved the children’s living environment and enabled them to genuinely feel the kindness and care extended by the Chinese people.

Representatives of the Chinese side stated that, as a locally established Chinese-invested enterprise participating in infrastructure development in the DRC, Sino-Congolese Infrastructure has consistently adhered to China’s principles of “sincerity, real results, amity, and good faith” in cooperation with Africa, as well as the philosophy of balancing justice and shared interests. The company remains committed to advancing infrastructure projects alongside public welfare initiatives. Leveraging the coordination of the Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office and the professional medical resources of the Chinese Medical Team in the DRC, the company has regularly carried out “small yet beautiful livelihood projects” livelihood programs, including child-care initiatives and free medical outreach services, which serve as an important component of its overseas corporate social responsibility efforts. Looking ahead, the company will continue to establish long-term assistance mechanisms and regularly organize visits, medical outreach programs, and cultural exchange activities to support the healthy growth and development of local children.

This joint outreach initiative represents a vivid example of Sino-Congolese Infrastructure’s commitment to fulfilling its overseas social responsibilities while also creating a collaborative platform that brings together the Chinese Embassy, foreign-aid medical teams, and Chinese enterprises to serve local communities. While advancing major infrastructure projects such as roads and municipal developments and strengthening the “hard connectivity” of China–DRC cooperation, the initiative also promotes “soft connectivity” through compassionate public welfare efforts that foster mutual understanding between peoples. These endeavors help lay a stronger social foundation for building a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the DRC in the new era and for advancing the vision of a China–Africa community with a shared future.
