Established on December 22, 2009, China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. (CREG) is a core subsidiary of China Railway Hi-Tech Industry Co., Ltd., itself a flagship enterprise under China Railway Group Limited (CREC). The company specializes in the research, development, manufacturing, and technical services of underground engineering equipment, with TBMs and dedicated tunneling equipment as its principal product lines.

Today, CREG operates with an annual production capacity of 280 TBMs and 300 dedicated tunneling units. The company has secured over 1,800 TBM orders, with more than1,700 units delivered. Its products have been deployed acrossover 40 citiesin China and exported to 36 countries, including Italy, France, Germany, Denmark, Australia, Singapore, the UAE, Canada, Israel, and Peru. CREG has achieved successive breakthroughs in premium markets across Europe, Australia, and North America, establishing itself as China's leading exporter of TBM equipment with cumulative overseas deliveries exceeding 140 units. The company's machines have collectively excavated nearly 5,000 kilometersof tunnels, achieving comprehensive coverage across metro, railway, highway, water conservancy, mining, and municipal engineering applications.

The corporate headquarters comprises 15 functional departments, with 10 subsidiaries and branch companies, including 5 overseas entities (Germany, Japan, Singapore, Italy, and South Korea), and 13 equity-holding or participating companies.

In recent years, CREG has been the recipient of numerous prestigious honors, including the China Quality Award, China Quality Award Nomination, Henan Provincial Governor's Quality Award, China Industry Grand Prize Commendation Award, China Good Design Gold Award, Service-Oriented Manufacturing Demonstration Enterprise, National Technology Innovation Demonstration Enterprise, National Manufacturing Single-Champion Demonstration Enterprise, and Science and Technology Reform Exemplary Enterprise.

Timeline of Important Achievements

2013: The company's participation in the research project "Key Technologies and Industrialization of Independent TBM Design and Manufacturing" was awarded the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

2018: CREG's independently developed horseshoe-shaped TBM received the highest accolade in the international tunneling industry—the International Tunneling Association (ITA) 2018 Technical Innovation Project of the Year Award. The company's lead project, "Key Technologies and Applications of Non-Circular Full-Face Tunnel Boring Machine Design and Manufacturing", was awarded the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

2019: CREG's TBM for tunnel cross-passages was awarded the National Patent Gold Prize. The company's rectangular TBM was selected as one of the 150 "China Firsts" for the "Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" grand exhibition. CREG was also designated a National Enterprise Technology Center.
